A Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. We have three divisions with distances appropriate to each one.

Fire Newts (ages 7 to 10) 100 yard swim, followed by 1K run.
Salamanders (ages 11 to 15) 200 yard swim, followed by a 2k run.
Tree Frogs (Special needs kids ages 7 to 15) distance chosen by parent on race day.

When LB Tri started back in 2009 there were no social triathlon clubs in the area so we jumped in and quickly grew to the largest tri club between LA Tri Club and SD Tri Club. As time has passed, many awesome groups have cropped up in our area providing fun events, group training and social events for triathletes. As LB Tri looks at the new season in 2015 we are looking a a new vision.

We will still have the fun social events, but our focus will be on training.

We believe that having fun, does not preclude working hard, and we plan to partner with many of the awesome sports clubs in the area to build the strongest triathlon program in the Long Beach area and beyond.

Watch this space for announcements of the new LB Tri club — a club that trains (hard) like a team!

So many of our founding members started out with us doing their first triathlon ever. And we will continue to support athletes of all levels. It will now be in a more inclusive and organized way with coached training sessions and technical support from the best suppliers in the area.
And we won’t loose the fun for those who don’t want to get all serious and there will still be a ‘club membership’ that allows you to join the group events and be apart of the LB Tri team — regardless of your level — will will be your home for triathlon support and triathlon fun.
Our T2R (Train to Race) program will design personalized training plans directed at the race you are looking to race. Want to do Arizona Ironman? How about a plan designed and developed with people who have already raced the course. Want to do you first sprint triathlon? How about a package that includes a race entry, specific and personal plan and basic equipment. No longer will you be left to figure out who it applies to your specific situation. No more wondering = no more worrying. T2R is the way to go.
